    Spotlight on Speaker Joe Simpson, Jr.

    After a life-threatening heart event in 2017, Joe A. Simpson, Jr’s paradigm shifted. While on leave, he attended his first Meetup, volunteered for WordCamp Los Angeles, beginning a whirlwind of giving back to the WordPress community.

    He spent the early part of his career with Fortune 500 brands as a designer in corporate identity groups at Unisys Corporation, Chrysler Corporation, and Metro Los Angeles, where he managed their WordPress network of websites.

    Joe advocates for open, inclusive, and usable experiences in the WordPress open-source community. He contributed as a Team Rep on the Make WordPress Accessible Team, helped organize the first WordPress Accessibility Day, and a highlight was co-organizing the first WordCamp with a dedicated accessibility-specific track of 18 speakers over the weekend at WordCamp Santa Clarita.

    Clare has been working with WordPress since 2010 and is the WordPress Development Lead at DevCollaborative. Her specialty is the WordPress back-end: getting all the parts to play nicely together so the user experience is as simple as possible. She is the organizer for the WordPress Naperville Meetup in Chicago’s western suburbs.

    Allie is the Senior Digital Project Manager at DevCollaborative. They have been managing projects and teams for over 15 years and have more than a decade’s experience in web development. They lead with clear and transparent communication, and break down individual silos to share important information across all project sources. Allie loves clean documentation and enjoys a good well-structured Gantt chart. Allie and their spouse and stepdaughter live in western Massachusetts, among the love of a dog and a cat.
